How Tasmania delivery works

Orders are butchered to order in Melbourne, cryovac sealed and sent across Bass Strait in an insulated box with chilled gel packs. We dispatch Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a 12pm cut-off, and Hobart, Launceston and Devonport receive their order 3 to 5 business days after that, crossing included. Regional Tasmania adds 1 to 2 days.

Delivery is a flat $30, the same as a Melbourne suburb, despite the crossing costing us more to service.

Tasmanian beef, sent back to Tasmania

Two of our core grass-fed programs are Tasmanian. Cape Grim comes from the north-west corner of the state, where the air is measured as some of the cleanest in the world, and Bass Strait beef is raised on the same cool-climate pastures. Lamb of Tasmania rounds out the lamb range.

Buying local beef from a Melbourne supplier sounds backwards until you try to source a whole Cape Grim cube roll in Hobart. Much of the premium production is distributed through mainland channels, which is why Tasmanians order from us at all.

Greater Hobart is the bulk of our Tasmanian orders, led by Lutana, Old Beach, North Hobart, Midway Point and Margate. We also deliver to Launceston, Devonport, George Town, Somerset, Spreyton, Queenstown, Triabunna and Scamander.

Tasmania delivery questions

Which days do you dispatch to Tasmania?

We dispatch every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a 12pm cut-off. Orders placed after the cut-off go out on the next dispatch day, so nothing sits in a depot over a weekend.

How long does delivery take to Hobart?

Hobart and Tasmanian metro postcodes arrive 3 to 5 business days after dispatch, which includes the Bass Strait crossing. Regional Tasmania adds 1 to 2 days.

How much is meat delivery in Tasmania?

A flat $30 anywhere in the state, whatever the order size. Crossing Bass Strait costs more to service, but the price to you is the same as the mainland.

Why would I buy Tasmanian beef from Melbourne?

Fair question. Cape Grim and Bass Strait beef is processed and distributed through mainland channels, so plenty of Tasmanians find it easier to buy their local beef from us than locally. You also get access to mainland Wagyu programs in the same order.

Will my meat still be cold when it arrives?

Yes. Every order ships cryovac sealed in an insulated box with chilled gel packs, rated to hold safe temperature for 24 hours in transit and a further 12 hours once delivered. Sealed cryovac beef holds up to 10 weeks of refrigerated shelf life from packing.

Is the beef delivered frozen?

No. Orders are delivered chilled and never frozen unless you request it. Products with FROZEN in the title are the exception and are labelled clearly.

Is the beef grass-fed or grain-fed?

Both. The grass-fed range covers Cape Grim, Bass Strait, OBE Organic, Greenham and Southern Ranges. The Wagyu range is grain-fed and includes Stone Axe, Shimo, Margaret River and King River.
